According to the report published by rating agency India Ratings with title powerwatch: March 2020, renewable power generation remained unaffected despite the COVID-19 lockdown. It is mainly due to must run status to the renewable power generations. In contrasr thermal sources were impacted most owing to decline in demand in month of March and April 2020.
Furthermore, demand decreased by 8.8 percent (y-o-y) to 97.7 billion units (BU) in March 2020. PLF of thermal plant declined to 52.6 percent due to lower demand. It is expected that Thermal power generator’s PLF to remain low due to lockdown.
In addition to this report anticipate that recovery is uncertain as cases are rising and lockdown period may extend further.
