Big basket is a clear case study for the same, in the recent times it all started with solar energy for lighting and refrigeration which reduced their spend on electricity. Taking a clue from this they started printing on recycled paper which was again a green initiative, why to use new paper. This gave them reduction in their paper cost. Now with the drive from the honorable PM there is a drive to reduce plastic and they are thinking of adopting no packaging concept for delivering the product. This would take some time for de-packaging into plastic containers. But they are looking implementing it for sure. The fruits and vegetables etc., they are packing in cardboard boxes and they will be incentivising customer to return the same back, hence reducing cost of packing. With cost pressures everywhere, getting greener will be no meaner to make margins.
